  • Good Use for Broken Spokes

    Thursday, January 24th, 2008

    When replacing your next broken spoke, throw the broken one in your tool box instead of the trash can. I’ve found that a broken spoke can be handy to clean some of the hard to get to spots on my bike. The long, thin, and flexible qualities of a spoke make it the [...]

    Danger Boy Brake Levers : Installation

    Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

    My Avid Juicy 7’s had an upgrade earlier this week. New pink brake levers from Danger Boy and Speed Goat! Check out my review of the product over at TheBikeLab.com.
    The installation of the levers were so easy I wanted to put it down in writing so folks would be even more tempted [...]

    Sunday, January 20th, 2008

    Ultimate Support makes some of the best traveling repair stands.  I found a recreational one at Jenson for $79.99!  A crazy low price for a stand that will last for a long time.

    Easily perform routine maintenance, or just wash your bike. Whatever your needs, the BRS-50R will meet them, all this at a very economical [...]

    * Spoke wrench
    * Chain rivet extractor
    * Cartridge bottom bracket tool
    * Freewheel remover
    * Freewheel turner
    * Headset [...]

    Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

    This past weekend I was honored to help my friend pick out some essentials to throw in a seat bag for his mountain bike. Here are my suggestions and why :
    Staple items that go with me on every ride -

    Tube
    Tire Levers
    Inflation Device
    Small Multi Tool

    Getting into specifics -
    Racing - (These items are normally in a [...]

    Instructables - Build a Repair Stand

    Monday, December 3rd, 2007

    Another great how to at Instructables. Every bike owner needs a good repair stand and maybe a Park stand isn’t in your budget.

    What you’ll need:
    - (2) 1/2″ by 18″ length galvanized nipple (threaded about an inch on each end) - $2.73 each
    - (3) 1/2″ by 10″ length galvanized nipple (same [...]
