noun
- A budget minded individual that rides mountain bikes
- One that must save money over a long period of time in order to buy a new mountain bike
- An individual who realizes he doesn’t need all of the expensive, flashy crap that almost every freaking publication on the market tells him he needs in order to have fun riding a mountain bike
Thank you for logging on to BlueCollarMTB.com. We chose our name because we are focused on the fulltime professional, the riders who, like us, can only make it to the trails before work or on the weekends. Blue Collar wants to help riders who love the sport, but who dont have the money to spend on high priced, average quality products. Our goal is to test products and give our website viewers valuable and honest feedback so our fellow riders know what products are worth their hard-earned money.
Also, we want to pass on our knowledge, as we gain it, about mountain biking skills and repair tips. As we learn and test new techniques, we will share our experiences with you. We will be traveling to many different trails and events throughout the year, so visit our site often for updates.
Blue Collar MTB loves the sport of mountain biking and we want others to experience the fun that we have on two wheels. Mountain biking is a great sport for getting in shape, while having fun. We hope you enjoy our site.
Mike:
Like Tim, I also work for a direct mail company and do some web design. Mountain biking is a great escape for me. I enjoy the rush and challenges that it brings.
I am a more conservative rider than others, but that doesnt mean I dont ride hard. I really dont concentrate on not falling, I just try to learn my bike and how it reacts to different trails. I would like to think that I am a more technical rider than anything. Tim thinks that if you dont end up bleeding after a ride you havent been riding, not I. I think I fall somewhere in between Tim and Carls style of riding.
Tim:
Along with Blue Collar MTB, I run the Crooked Cog Network and do other web stuff. Besides being in the saddle, I love playing on computers, doing web programming and taking long walks on the beach.
My riding style consists pretty much of trying to stay on the bike. I’m not sure if it is an inner ear problem or just a lack of brain activity on my part, but I don’t believe I have ever been out on a ride that I haven’t fallen. One minute I will be climbing and maneuvering a very rocky and technical trail like a billy goat and the next I will be lying on a flat, paved piece of trail bleeding. So, needless to say, I will be the one crash testing most of the products.
My email address is Tim@BlueCollarMTB.com. Since I currently fill the role of website admin, feel free to send me your suggestions and crude remarks. And, if you feel so led, I enjoy the occasional limerick.
