In this installment I want to cover the tools I use in a typical tune up procedure. There will be exceptions to this list in certain circumstances because every bike is unique, but this should cover the majority of the bikes I see day in and day out.

*Alternate Tools lists a selection of tools that might be required for certain types of bikes. Older bikes, department store rigs, and road bikes sometimes will require some of the tools on this list.

    …just an idea.

    This might work.

Take an old seat post weld or bolt it to another pipe (about 2 feet long).forming a “T”.
Just remove your seat post and install the old post with the bar on it.
Clamp the bar in a vice or drill a hole in the wall or a tree, (improvise) jam it into something.

    …tie it down.
    …nail it down.
    …wedge it in a tree.

    Who knows?

i think i might build a couple of these and throw them under the back seat.
…might come in handy some day.

Buy the best tools you can afford.
In the mean time do the best you can.

Art, thanks for reminding us how blue collar we really are. I think I’m gonna go make one of those right now…
