I bought a 2009 Marlin Disc and I can't stay off it. The G2 geometry is perfect for my build (short & stocky), and it inspires crazy confidence. I was a loony mountainbiker back in the 80's when I traveled to places in WVa and jumped off ledges into rivers on an '83 Chrome-Moly Ross Mount Hood, but I moved to an area with a lot of vehicle traffic, so I let my riding slip. I've lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks riding trails and hills around the Baltimore-Annapolis area.

Incidentally, if you're in your 50's like I am, and you suffer from a pinched nerve/lower back problem called Sciatica, the Fisher may be the bike for you. I tried dozens of bikes, and was bent on buying the Cannondale F5, or a Trek 4200, but both of those gave me some lower back discomfort. The second I tried a Fisher, I said "This is it." I can ride all day without the slightest pain, and now my weight loss has reduced the back problem to nothing.

20 days after I bought my Marlin, some goof playing with his phone rear-ended me and dented the downtube on my Marlin, but his insurance is buying a 2008 Big Sur frame for me in black, so I'll have a most interesting hybrid. I've done some graphic art stuff to compare the end result with the Marlin, and the two look pretty comparable. The seat and head tube angles look the same, but the Big Sur top tube slopes down more sharply at the seat tube than on the Marlin or Piranha. But that may work well for me, since my inseam is only 29".

I have been considering purchasing a GF Marlin or Wahoo for some time---and I am a relatively rookie rider...not to say I haven't been riding mountain bikes for many many years, but new to Gary Fisher.

Can any one tell me the major differences (noticeable) between the Wahoo and a Marlin? Is a Marlin worth the extra $$? I ride on a variety of terrain types if that means anything...

Any help is appreciated!

came across this website searching for production dates because i just bought an 09 hoo koo e koo and i was told its estimated arrival is nov 11. But it seems that these bikes are already being produced and rolled out. Does anyone know when all of the models will be available

I just got this bike 2 days ago and I love it. I went to the bike shop to get a deal on a 2008 bike but this bike fit so good and it was only about $50 more in the end. This bike has alot of good components on it that were not there last year. I personally got the Marlin with disc brakes. I went for a ride the night that I got it and it was very smooth (the tires which seemed very shallow also handle mud very well)

From the rep's mouth it looks like hardtails are going up due to the economy, but there is a huge 26" hard tail market overseas. Here for high end hardtails you are looking boutique or 29"

european only? that's odd. do you know why they would make such a move? it's hard to believe that there is no demand on the american hardtail market...
