Dickies Work Gloves

<===Dickies makes some nice budget work clothes……….and these gloves.

Just before I left to go to Texas I went shopping for a pair of Mechanix gloves or an equivalent since my hands don’t like typical cycling gloves.

I saw these and got them for about $16.00 or so. As a work glove they stink! I mean, how fast do you think that terry cloth thumb area will fill up with grease and dirt? About what………three seconds? But as a cycling mit it is pure genius. I bet Dickies never dreamed of these as a mountain biking glove.

I searched and found out that the actual company making these for Dickies is some outfit called Fortress. Mmm-kay, whatever. They are cheap and they work………..for me. I don’t like cut off finger gloves- make my hands go numb. I don’t like a lot of palm padding either, so these fit the bill for me.

these may be great for me this summer! I am going to be doing a Lot of trail work this summer and I always seem to destroy bicycle-spec gloves in a day or to.
    Thanks Arleigh

I’ve been looking for some full-finger bike gloves! Do you see these as more of a winter/cooler weather glove or are they breathable enough to be a summer glove?
    Thanks!

Those are nice. I’ve been using a pair of red Mechanix gloves for trials riding, but they don’t have the terry cloth. I’m gonna have to get some as soon as I “need” another pair of gloves.

aaron: I rode these in a low humidity desert situation and they were great. 70 plus degrees. In a humid area I can’t comment yet. I will be using mine most of the year though and i am currently using them for commutes, so I’ll chime back in when I have more to say.

I’ve been using some CLC work gloves purchased from Home Depot a few years ago. I’ve been meaning to post a note about them to CBB.

Also check out the Lowe’s Home Improvement’s house brand, Kobalt. They make a full fingered work glove that is comparable to Fox’s, only at a price of $9.99. It doesn’t have the terry cloth thumb but provides great hand protection with just enough padding in the palm.

I have used Kobalt (lowes brand) “pro framer” gloves for the last 3 years now and have never been happier. They have the thumb, forefinger, and middle finger as half fingers and terry cloth on the thumb/wrist area. Great ventilation on the back of hand area too.

I’ve had good luck with Ironclad work gloves …
