Doses of Inspiration

October 29th, 2007 by Arleigh Jenkins

Cycling for me is inspiration. Inspiration of becoming a better rider and person. Thanks to the internet inspiration is easier to find. If it’s photos, stories, quotes or forums - they are all one click away. Here’s a few of my daily doses of inspiration, what are yours??

Blogs - Matt Magic, MTB Bolts, Cycle-licious, Creepy Friendly & Guitar Ted.
I have about 250 blogs on my Google Reader and the first 5 I check in the morning if they have posted are the 5 I just listed. They normally have good stories and/or photos. Leave me wanting to ride

Flickr - Nanobikerdotcom, CleverChimp, BikePortland, BiciGirl, StaticPhoto, MattMagic, FastBoy & IraRyanCycles.

Music - To pump things up - The Killers, Fugazi, Oakenfold, Drive by Truckers & Pretty Girls Make Graves. To mellow out - David Gray, Edie Carey, Dar Williams & Counting Crows. This is the short list of the 15 GB of music I have on my one desktop computer. My obsession with my iPod shuffle is to simply press auto fill and let it plan my music for the day.

Beautiful Bikes and Things- IF, Twin Six, Vanilla, Moyer, Boone Ti, & Surly.

The things I don’t have links for - My riding partners, and trail dogs. The trails I have not ridden yet and bikes I have not owned.

Now what inspires you?

I am inspired by other riders I meet on the trails who are smiling, laughing and having FUN! Isn’t that what riding is all about? The riders I come across who are treating it like work always make me feel bad for them….it seems they are missing out on the greatest enjoyment of doing what we do.

Thanks for the link, Ars. My inspiration — like Steve’s — is my daily ride!

The daily ride. That’s probably the best inspiration of all.

Thanks to everyone for the new links!

Seems hard to find other Drive By Trucker fans, so I am happy to see it here. Go Truckers! Aces on fugazi as well ;)

Oh, and thanks for the links. They are sure to make my wednesday a little more bearable.

I love the Drive by Truckers. They recently came to Charlotte with the Allman Brothers and I was so bummed out that I wasn’t able to go.
