Habit Shorts : Initial Thoughts
October 18th, 2007 by Arleigh JenkinsSlowly I am hope to attract more women to read this site. As a woman in the industry I know it is hard to get sound advice that isn’t simply read from a catalog and repeated to you. If there is something you want advice on our a product you’ve seen please let me know!
Harlot Habit Shorts - Size MD, Color Black.
The shorts have an amazing material, stretchy but feel very durable. Sizing they seem to be pretty true & the length is perfect. I am very excited about the fact they didn’t mess with the padded liner that many shorts do. Normally you aren’t happy with the liner and tear it out, or if its built in you are stuck with it.

Back of shorts. Seamless crotch in center.
Shorts have two closures. Velcro and snaps. Easy to take off in a pinch but very secure while in use. The shorts also have belt loops if you want even more backup.

Tidbits from the company :
- Seamless and unlined crotch.
- Shell fabric is a stretch nylon/poly with Dryon finish. The Dryon is water and strain resistant.
- 4 way stretch inseam
- Available in multiple colors and sizes
The shorts are subtle enough to wear out after riding or I plan to wear them in the shop. The black color is perfect to hide grease and I can commute in to work with them on! Give me a week or so for a good ride report.

The material on those shorts looks similar to the Chrome knickers… you know if it’s the same type stretchiness?
Tim,
I’ve only seen the Chrome knickers second hand but from what I recall they were much heavier duty than these shorts. These are pretty thin and easy to move in, but still have a durable “rip proof” feel to them.
Thanks for the review. I have had my eye on these shorts for a while. I love my Harlot knickers!
My wife is about to start riding. I want her to start out with a good saddle and apperal, hoping to make her first experience a good one. I am open for suggestions, regarding a seat, shorts or anything that will make her more comfortable.
Saddle - the one that I see most women having the best luck is the Terry Butterfly. Most decent shops will allow a “trade in” program - as long as you don’t crash and they can resell the saddle they will credit you towards a new one until you find the right one.
Padded shorts - I recommend a good mid level short, not the $30 but not the $80. Have her try them out and see what fits best. Make sure she knows not to ride with underwear between the short and her skin.
Baggy shorts - soccer shorts, gym shorts, anything will be great to start off in. You want her to feel confident and not worry about what she looks like.
I hope this helps, if you have any more questions please let me know!!
