Most decent shops will allow a "trade in" program - as long as you don't crash and they can resell the saddle they will credit you towards a new one until you find the right one. Padded shorts - I recommend a good mid level short, not the $30 but not the $80. Have her try them out and see what fits best. Make sure she knows not to ride with underwear between the short and her skin. Baggy shorts - soccer shorts, gym shorts, anything will be great to start off in.
