My crank came loose miles from anywear. The tapered square socket became damaged and I beeat it back on with a piece of brick which I padded out with some leaves to stop from putting brick marks on the crank arm. Then I tried to torque it down with the Alien. The plastic housing of the Alien gave way and the little attaching clip sprung off. So I can still use the Alien but it is in 2 pieces.
