Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Do you have a child of your own?  Have a niece or nephew that admires you?  Maybe you have a spare bike that you could take to a Trips for Kids event.  Here is an excerpt from IMBA’s resource page:

Here are some things you can do to participate:

  1. Organize a ride in your local area. IMBA can help you plan an event - either large or small. View a list of scheduled events. (Event Registration for Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day 2007 is now closed.)
  2. Spread the word. This event is a great opportunity for kids and groups to experience mountain biking for the first time or to get back on the saddle again. You can publicize your event by downloading our Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day Posters and printing them out to use as you see fit. (Poster 1, Poster 2)We’ve also created a sample email invitation you can blast to your group members, friends, and other contacts to promote the event.

And, finally, consider sending a press release to your local media. We’ve got a sample press release template that you can modify for your event.

  3. Take a kid on a ride. Plan to go mountain biking on the first Saturday in October - and bring a kid along for the ride! Check out these helpful tips for taking kids riding and learn about other kids cycling programs.
  4. Kids - you can find an event in your area. Ride your mountain bike on October 6 at a participating ride and you can sign up to be eligible to win one of the Schwinn youth mountain bikes. Tell your friends!

Encourage healthy living and activities to the next generation!!
