Trek World ‘08 : Intro

August 23rd, 2007 by Arleigh Jenkins

I recently flew back from Madison, WI where G-Ted and I were at Trek World. (No we didn’t go together.) The show itself is amazing & very well done. The event is 3 days long with two different sessions. Allowing multiple people from shops to go and experience the “Trek Family.” Tons of great seminars, and there is something for everyone.

My trip started off with seminars on various geek things, from how to get the most out of our computer system to how to properly warranty things. Then everyone went to a John Burke Welcome which was very motivating and got everyone very excited about what we were to see over the next few days. Following the welcome we went back to see everything for ‘08 in a huge showroom. After taking many photos I headed back to my hotel to get rested up for the weekend.

The next morning was full of tech seminars. The Trek mountain seminar was explaining the new ABP & 69er. The Fisher seminar was mainly about the new G2 geometry for 29ers & then how the new carbon Hi Fi is made. All the info you want about their co-molding can be found on Fisher Bikes. Finally the Bontrager seminar was mainly on their new seats, and various products for ‘08.

Once the seminars ended I went to get changed for the DEMO! While walking to get changed I realized it was pouring out… and had been for a few hours. This limited my ride time due to mud and instead of riding a few bikes I only rode one - the Fisher Superfly. After getting back and showering we had another John Burke meeting about advocacy.

The rest of the trip was a bit of a blur. Canceled flights, delays and tons of rain in WI. There are tons of products and things to get excited about from Trek in the upcoming year. Look for my next posts to get in more detail.
