Ever Broken a Spoke?
August 23rd, 2007 by Arleigh JenkinsI recently ordered a little gadget called “FiberFix Spoke” from Adventure Cycling. It essentially is supposed to take place of a spoke until you can get home. As a person that does long rides on their road and mountain bike I always worry about being stuck somewhere with a broken spoke. I’m half hoping that I break a spoke in the next few weeks to see if it works. If I don’t break a spoke in the next month I plan on testing the FiberFix on my 29er Bontrager X-Lite wheels.

I heard about those a while back and never actually saw a picture or where to get them. I’m tempted to grab one because I’ve had spokes break at some inopportune times.
Why not just loosen the two spokes adjacent to the broken spoke and ride gingerly? With most bikes having discs, a perfectly true wheel isn’t really that important (for the short term anyway).
