“Shadow” design moves upstream

June 22nd, 2007 by Brad Quartuccio

Remember that 2008 Shimano XT announcement?

Seems like Shimano has enough invested in the idea to move it upstream to XTR.

Same clearance saving design to prevent damage in crashes, same higher tension spring. Full carbon body, and surely a price tag to match. Not a Blue Collar part by any means.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait long for LX and Deore level deraileurs of this design, as I think it will lead to longer lasting alignment and shifting performance. Clearly XTR is overkill for all but the most elite riders and XT is more coin than many want to spend. Give us a working-man’s Shadow.
