Diamondback 07 Response Comp

February 20th, 2007 by Mike

Diamondback shipped us their newest version of the Response Comp this year. Not a lot has changed with the look of the bike other than it is only offered in Pluto Gold. The bike still carries the all mountain frame with the Strong Box top and down tubes. The Strong Box technology really ads to the weight of the bike but if you are a hefty rider or someone who just likes to pound the crap out of your rig this is a good bike.

Diamondback Response Comp

My first ride with this bike was my first ride of the year. With the birth of my son I took some time off from riding and wasn’t in the best of shape and of course my riding skills were a little rusty. And when my riding is sloppy my bike takes a lot of punishment. The Response Comp took it like a champ though. I think I’m going to nick name it “Rocky.” What’s his famous saying? “It’s not how hard you punch, it’s how hard of a punch you can take.” Something like that.

Chandlers Mountain

Candlers mountain was the site of my first ride and is a great place to take a bike for a good test ride. You run the gambit from log crossing, creek crossings, log bridges and pretty crazy climbs. I found out on the ride that I have a little adjusting to do to the front derrailleur. Other than that the bike seemed to be dialed in pretty good straight out of the box. I’m riding on an 18″ frame so I think I’m going to take Tim’s advice and move the fork spacers above the handlebar to position me over the front tire a little more.

Diamondback Response Comp

My first impressions are that this bike is great for a first time or rusty rider. The Strong Box technology makes sure that the bike will hold up in all conditions but does weigh it down quite a bit. I’m liking the ride so far. Check back for my final review.

i am new to the sport and do not want to put out a great deal of money for my first bike. i have done a little research on bikes and am in the middle of making a decision one of two bikes. the diamondback response or the GT avalanche 2.0, i like features that both bikes offer but the GT is about 100$ more. if you have any advise i would apreciate it. Thank You!!

hey diana. i would go with a diamond back response sport. they’re easy to upgrade if you feel like it. im not saying that the gt is a bad bike but i bought a nice name brand bike about a year ago (trek 7000zx) and i love my response alot more. its a tough bike and nobody is going to give you a hard time about it cuz it really is a nice bike plus you can go pick it up at your local dicks sporting goods.

I ride alomost everyday ,and I tried my buddies DB COMP 07, I was very impressed with the bike as a whole. I ACTULLAY SOLD MY TREK and bought one of my own , a little heavy but anyone can get past that ,you dont even notice when your on the trails . I recommend this bike to everyone i see when im riding and ask how do i like it .It is cost effective and put together very well AND TRUST ME IT DOES HANDLE A BEATING , no matter what i throw at it ,I havent been let down yet. I just bought a DB Response Sport today!!!
I love it. Although I paid 400 with tax (its an ‘07) I haven’t seen anything that I would ant that is super expensive…and the fact that who want sto beat up a expensive bike on the trail?
My only other bike to compare it to was a schwinn frontier and it wasnt near as good.
I bought a 22 inch green one. Im 6′4 and none of the other bikes in the shop were big enough so they suck! LOL
    anyway I love the bike!

I just bought a 08′ DB Response Comp 18″ frame. I am very happy with this bike, as it is much better than my 8 yr. old GT. The bike rides like a champ and is very stable on the trails. I am about 5′9″, 210 lbs. and the bike pulls me great. This is a great bike that you can take on the trails and bash on.

Well my Diamondback Response Comp lasted about a year and a half. When I first got it,I thought it was the bomb…….Wrong! Stuff started breaking in the first month I had it. Here’s the list 2 rear wheels,1 front wheel,2 crank sets,1 set pedals,1 front derailuer and hanger(broke at different times),1 set of handle bars,2rear derailuer hanger(my fault 1 crash and 1 toss over fence) And finally the frame snapped. I’m not impressed at all. Wen I started beefing everything up I was thinking the frame should be able to handle it. Nope. Now here is my set up Surly instagator frame,Shimano Saint B.B. and cranks 22-32-BG, SRAM X-0 derailuers and shifters, avid juicy 7 brakes,HALO SAS 36front 48rear wheel set,WTB mutano raptor tires, king earl os risers, and Marzocchi DJ2 fork. I’m 5′10″ 290 and I LOVE TO FLY

I picked up an ‘07 Response Comp from the local bike shop about a month ago. I saw the Response Comp sitting up on the stand. It was ridden intermittently by its original owner. This has been the best bike I have owned in years. I used to ride BMX, so my style is whatever gets in front of me. The Response Comp comes with all the necessities of a good MTB. The brakes work fantastic, its easy to navigate the dirt, rocks, hills and anything else I have come across. I have taken it on the streets, dirt paths, hills and rocks and it has yet to fail me. I have been transformed into a serious Mountain Biker and have put about 200+ miles on it. Fortunately I have a 10,000+ mountain in my backyard to further abuse this bike. I would recommend this bike to anyone. I’m 6′ 225 lbs and this bike can take it.

Just picked up an 08 DB Comp Response, and I have to say this bike will do it all! Very strong through the frame and not terribly heavy I think. Any rider should appreciate this bike, tough as nails and easy to upgrade.

If you’re a savvy shopper, you can pick up a response comp quite cheap…. I just got an ‘08 or ‘09 model for about $100 brand new at Dick’s Sporting Goods. The rear derailleur made a little noise, but they are replacing it for free.

Syles from the new collections at reduced introductory prices. This is a great way to pick up a trendy, new but cheap designer handbag.

I have to be grateful that you have that kind of blog, because my girlfriend is in that kind of thing but I don’t know much and I have been reading and I find so valuable information.
