Pryme Gear Cold Bones Gloves Review

December 19th, 2006 by Tim Grahl

Blue Collar Summary
These gloves are a great choice for cold and muddy conditions. I’ve ridden these in temperatures ranging from high 20s to mid 60s (F) and extremely muddy, wet conditions. Through it all the gloves kept my hands warm and dry.

The retail price of $39 is well worth a pair of gloves that will protect your hands in these winter months.

Testing Conditions
Several rides were done in cold, windy conditions. I also tested these in extremely muddy conditions on two long rides where my hands where in the mud and puddles many times.

Some Specs
- Silicone printed Amara palm
- Porelle waterproof/breathable liner
- built for maximum flexibility
- Sizes: S, M (Tested), L, XL

Performance and Observations
When I first received these gloves I wasn’t expecting a whole lot because they were coming out of the BMX-centered brand, Pryme Gear. However, throughout the many test rides I was consistently impressed with their performance.

I’ve tried out a few different styles of winter gloves and these were, by far, the most comfortable pair. Where other gloves often cause a lot of pain after a long ride, these weren’t far off from the comfort level of my summer pair.

Testing was done in temperatures ranging from high-20s to mid-60s and conditions ranging from dry to extremely muddy/wet. I rode the extremely nasty trails of the Punk Bike Enduro in Pittsburgh, PA for two days where my hands hit the mud and puddles several times. At the end of both days my hands where still dry and warm.

The one problem I started having towards the end of riding in these conditions was some slipping. My hands weren’t flying off the handlebars by any means, however I could feel them sliding around the grips a bit. This didn’t disappointed to much as they had been in a good bit of mud by this point. The rides I’ve done following have them gripping just like before so no long term problems.

The retail price is $39.99 which is a bit high for a pair of gloves, but the level of comfort and warmth these provide on winter rides is well worth the extra cash. I highly recommend the Pryme Gear Cold Bones Gloves to anyone looking to keep their hands safe on cold rides.

Pros
- comfortable
- warm
- extremely water resistant

Cons
- palms get slippery if exposed to a lot of mud/water
