Trail Blaze do-it-yourself energy bars
November 15th, 2006 by Tim GrahlMatisse and Jack’s has a very exciting product out called the Trail Blaze homemade energy bar mix. When I saw it, I knew I had to try it for Blue Collar.
I got a box of both varieties they currently have out… the Cranberry Walnut and Chocolate Chip. Now I’m not the cook of the family, my wife definitely is, but I still took a stab at these since it’s a pretty easy series of steps to follow.

I started out with the Chocolate chip…

What’s really cool about making these yourself is the fact that you can put in whatever ingredients you want. They have some recommended “wet” ones to add on the back of the box, but you can explore with all kinds of combinations. Add your own fruit, peanut butter, nuts, etc. Or make it vegan by keeping out dairy. The options are pretty limitless.
I decided to go with their “recommended” ingredients of Apple Sauce and Yogurt since I am testing them out.

Once you have your ingredients picked out you just dump every thing into a big boll, stir it up…

Spread it into a lightly greased 8″x8″ pan…

And pop it into an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Once out of the oven you let it cool completely…

And it’s ready for the taste test!

As opposed to my shot at homemade energy drinks, these things were really good!

I love the idea of these Trail Blaze energy bars. There’s no leftover wrappers that end up on trails, you can change the taste of the bars to whatever you like and, best of all, they are less than half the price of what you are gonna pay for pre-packed energy bars.
Take my advice and try these out… the price is currently $4.95 a box (makes about nine bars) and you get free shipping if you buy five boxes or more.

time is money
and
I value my time
not sure I have all this time for a DIY lifestyle
loved the photos…. good sense of humor. and you’re right. anything made in your own kitchen is a savings of at least 50%. i’d be if you looked on allrecipes.com & used their search feature, you’d find other recipes that you’d like also. and, the recipes are all rated by users,,,,, so you don’t waste your time wondering what its gonna taste like since ten or twenty others have already tried it and rated it.
so what are main ingredients in trailblaze box? (you could even save further money by making your own premix granola)
