Diamondback Mission 1
November 8th, 2006 by MikeI came home to a beautiful site last night… two brand new Diamondback Mountain bikes - the Mission 1 and the Response Comp.

The first bike I tore into was the Diamondback Mission 1. The guys from Diamondback sent us a a 17″, which is the medium size. The only color they have so far is Grey Sky, which I think is pretty sweet. The hooded hydroform top tube gives the bike some great accent. I think I’m most excited about the Hayes Sole Hydraulic disc brakes. I haven’t had the chance to ride with Hydraulic disc brakes yet.

Here are some specs directly from Diamondback’s website…
- Mission 6” All Mountain Frame w/ Knuckle Box Rear Suspension , Hooded Hydroformed Top Tube & Sealed Cartridge Bearing Pivots
- Rockshox Tora Air 130mm Fork w/ Motion Control Damping
- Fox Float R Rear Shock
- Hayes Sole Hydraulic Disc Brakes w/ V7” / V6” rotors
- Truvativ Blaze Crankset w/ 44/32/22t Rings & Powerspline Sealed Bottom Bracket
- Shimano Deore 9-spd Rapid Fire Shifters
- Shimano LX 9-spd Rear Derailleur
- Easton EA30 Stem / Bar
- Sun Ditchwitch Double Wall Rims
- Kenda Nevegal 26x 2.35 Tires
- WTB Pure V Comp Saddle
I’m really excited about hitting the trail with this bike. It is a little on the expensive side coming in around $1800. Check back to see if we think it is worth shelling out the cash for this rig.

That shock configuration looks a lot like the Commencal Meta. Do they have any family ties?
