5 Hour Energy Drink
October 24th, 2006 by MikeOne of the many booths that I got to visit at Interbike was the 5 Hour Energy booth. They hooked me up with a six pack of their single serving energy drinks. I used the first bottle the day after Interbike. After 2 days of Interbike I had to take a red eye to my “real” job and run a conference. Needless to say I wasn’t in the working mood when I arrived in Memphis on Friday morning after about 1.5 hours of sleep that night. I went directly to work setting up our product booth and meeting with the facility people.

When I finally made it back to my room around noonish I remembered that I had the 5 Hour Energy drinks so I shot one down and hoped for the best. I can honestly say I could feel a difference within a few minutes. My heart wasn’t racing or anything I could just tell I wasn’t as drained as I was earlier. The drink kept me awake until about 11PM that night.

I haven’t tried the drink during a ride yet but I have a day off next Friday and I plan on getting a nice ride in. You can purchase 5 Hour Energy at pretty much all of the major drug stores. Check out the 5 Hour Energy website for more information.

Yeesh! 8333% vitamin B12! Thats kinda scary….
So that’s enough B12 for 166 people? Did I do the math right?
Two folks beat me to it, but taking 20 times or (yikes!) 83 times the RDA of any vitamin can’t be good. Pass.
Tim you forgot to mention how nasty this stuff tastes! Yuk its like cough syrup..but worse!
However, it does work!
You are right RL it does taste pretty nasty. I didn’t mix it with water, I just took it like a shot and that was a big mistake.
B-vitamins are water soluble. That means whatever your body doesn’t absorb is eliminated by your body with no toxic build up – like Vitamin C. My dad was on vitamin B therapy from his doctor and received way bigger doses than that. I just bought a bottle of a new flavor (lemon lime) from a vending machine and it was pretty tasty.
I tried the drink yesterday 1st time and only took a little over 1/2 the bottle, about 1.25 oz. I was a little nervous because I cannot tolerate the “jicky” feeling virtually any go-fast product gives me. This was not like that but i did unconciously talk too much in a business meeting 1 hr after consumption. Gotta watch that. I had plenty of smooth energy lasting into the evening, no crash and slept like a baby. I like this product a lot and the taste isn’t as bad as so many are whining about. What do you want, eggs in your beer?
too strong
I have used 5-Hour Energy for about 2 years now. This stuff is the best I have ever used and definitly works as advertised. You have a nice pick up of energy without the jitters and do not crash. On days that I feel sluggish I usually take in the 2:30 to 3:00 hour and sail through the rest of the day. I definitly take when I have to go into long meetings…keeps me focused and not drifting off to bike trails!
Also - you really cannot take too much B12. This is one of the hardest vitimins for the body to metabolize and any excess is passed through your body and expelled.
so they what’s the point of taking so much b12 is the body just pisses it all out. where does the “energy” come from?
Your body will only expell what is not absorbed and stored. You do not “piss” all of the B-12 taken out. As the saying goes “I’d rather have expensive pee than defficient levles of vitamins and minerals”.
Do some research and you will find that most common aliments and diseases are a result of vitamin and mineral deficiency and poor diet.
LOVE THE STUFF,but don’t use it within 7-8 hrs of wanting to sleep. Good energy and no crash afterward!!
Yea seriouusly the taste isnt that bad, unless ur a pussy. Anyway I like it, and it def keeps u up. I had a hang over and 2 hrs of sleep, then i popped a 5 hr and was ready to run down the damn beach, great stuff! Dont worry about all the stuff in it, half u guys probably smoke anyways.
