Tifosi Optics Forza First Impressions

October 17th, 2006 by Tim Grahl

Tifosi Optics is one of those rare companies that get me really excited. Most products we review here at Blue Collar fit a Blue Collar budget and are pretty good value for the money. But every once in awhile a company comes along that’s doing all the right things to give huge value while keeping the price on their products pretty low. With Tifosi’s highest price point not even coming close to breaking three digits, they are offering some very affordable riding glasses.

When it comes to glasses, I have admittingly been a skeptic in the past. I’ve only used straight shaded riding glasses and I get frustrated because they are helpful when I’m riding in the sun, however they do nothing but hurt your field of vision in shaded singletrack.

Well I picked up a pair of Tifosi Optics Forza T-V165 glasses at Interbike and have since been on a couple rides with them and am very impressed so far. Even though they are meant for rainy/overcast conditions, they do a great job on increasing the light contrast and making it a lot easier to see the darker parts of the trail. I’ve even stopped a few times and pulled them off and on to see the difference.

Also, when you are in the bright parts of the trail while riding, the lenses darken in just a few seconds to a deep green to help block the sun.

Here’s some official specs on the glasses:

More to come as I keep riding these glasses.

I was introduced to Tifosi about 4-5 years ago. I hate companies that make expensive optics and try to sell a name. Tifosi is NOT that company. They make one of the best products in the eye industry. I would walk over hot coals to have their frames and lenses grace my mug.

    Tifosi for life!!!
