Former Senator Warns of a Meltdown in Global Trade

Executives attending the Outdoor Industry Association conference got a sober warning from former Sen. William Brock: If Congress were to unilaterally impose a punitive tariff on Chinese imports it could end any forward progress on global free trade issues.

Brock, a former Senator, U.S. Trade Representative and U.S. Secretary of Labor during the Reagan administration, said companies that rely on Chinese exports should have a backup plan for production if Congress were to impose a financial sanction on Chinese-made products, and that could include bicycles.
