Mountain biker overcomes obstacles on way to Worlds

Irony is often confused with coincidence.

But there certainly is no coincidence and whole lot of irony when it comes to the successful biking career of Cody Canning, the Fort McMurray boy whose heart was both huge and too small at the same time.

Canning, 18, is currently living out a dream as one of three members of Canada’s junior cross country mountain biking team. He left for the World Championships in New Zealand just this week as the reigning Canadian champion, taking with him his trademark passion for the sport and a renewed appreciation after increased heart rates just over a year ago almost put an end to it all.
