No retrial in cyclist’s death
August 3rd, 2006 by Tim GrahlThere will not be a retrial for a McFarland man whose trial in June on a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle ended in a hung jury, the prosecutor in the case has informed the judge.
Tracy Sorum, 30, was driving along Hope Road near Cottage Grove on June 30, 2005, when he took his eyes off the road to check in the mirror for something stuck in his throat. Before he looked back, he had run into Jessica Bullen, 29, who was knocked from her bicycle and, although wearing a helmet, suffered severe head injuries and died July 3.
