Teko Increases Renewable Fibers in Sock Line

Teko’s persistent pursuit of renewable fibers will continue with their Ingeo socks, made from a sustainable, corn-based fiber. These socks will be made out of Ingeo and Lycra, the net effect being a sock that is 98 percent petroleum-free.

The only petroleum in the sock is the Lycra, for which Teko is working to find a non-petroleum replacement that still meets their high-performance criteria. By replacing petroleum with a renewable plant-based feedstock, 20 to 50 percent less fossil fuels is used to produce Ingeo, and 68 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions are generated compared to conventional plastics.
