I tried that a few years ago and destroyed the electronics on my camera. Ditto about Helmet cam being a bit tough on the neck. I never thought of chest mount -- I'll have to give that a thought. But a helmet cam makes your neck sore. I like a chest mounted system, that I've been cooking up for years. pretty comfortable. That may work for flat road rides,
