Iowa City Police Chief Sam Hargadine said a bicyclist struck Tuesday night by a “Girls Gone Wild” bus was at University Hospitals and had surgery today.

The names of the bicyclist and bus driver will not be released until the bicyclist is interviewed, Hargadine said. He said he hoped that could happen Thursday.

The bicyclist, a man, was trapped with his bicycle beneath the front right tire of the full-size chartered bus when fire department officials responded to the accident. The accident happened at the intersection of Burlington and Linn Streets around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.
