How to: Two tubes are better then one
July 19th, 2006 by Tim GrahlHow to fit a dual tube system to a bicycle wheel that will enable you to deal with a puncture without having to remove the the wheel or need any tools other than a pump until you get home. When you get a puncture the second inner tube is sitting right there in the tyre waiting to be inflated.

That’s terrific, until you consider the possibility of a puncture flat where the foriegn object is still embedded in the tire. These offending items are notoriously difficult to find and remove from the outside of the tire. If it’s still there when you inflate the secondary tube, you shouldn’t have to ride too far to suffer another flat, and end up with 2 tubes to replace instead of one.
Is there a chance that the first tube will give you enough insulation that the second tube will stay inflated? Sure. Personally, I’d rather stick with the plastic protective strips commonly available for about the price of a single innertube (which don’t require drilling a new hole in my rims).
WOOOOOOOOW! That’s unbelievable. No more embarassment on the roads. I would love to shift to cycling rather than driving cars and bikes and save a lot of fuel too.
