Sette Epic Shoes First Impression
June 1st, 2006 by MikeI still remember biking with platform pedals, seems so long ago. I “moved up” to platform pedals with straps and hung there for quite a while. I was nervous about switching to clipless pedals. I thought that I would have a huge problem with coming to a stop and falling over. That has actually never happened (which surprises me). I finally came to my senses and made the leap to clipless pedals and I cannot see why I ever rode any other way. I started out with and am still riding with CrankBros pedals. They are easy to clip in and out of and are great for first timers. If you are wavering take the plunge it is definitely worth it.

I’ve been riding for the last three weeks with my new Sette Epic shoes. I was really excited to try out the ratchet action lever that allows you to adjust the tightness of the shoes on the fly. They are as nice as I expected. They slip on very easily with no shoe strings involved. And I can keep them loose while driving to the trail or the time spent walking around getting ready for the ride and then once on the bike I can just reach down and give the lever a few pulls and the shoes get comfortably snug.

The shoes don’t have much if any give on the up stroke. I’ve tested this a few times on the Monocog while pulling up some hills. They are very light but very sturdy. The only problem that I’ve had with the shoes so far is one of the cleats came loose while I was riding. But thanks to a multi tool and a quick tighten I was on my way with no further problems.

So far I am very happy with the shoes. They fit great and look good. The Epic shoes are only available at PricePoint.com and the price is right at only $89. Check back for my full review in a month or so.

Just wondering how’s the fit? I have a wider foot and wondering if the fit is narrow.
I have a wide foot myself and they fit great. I haven’t felt any discomfort yet and I’ve had them out on some 2 to 3 hour rides.
