Blue Collar Summary:
The Louis Garneau Gemini jacket was designed to stop wind and to keep your core warm. During my rides last fall and winter the jacket did its job. The WindDry material that covers most of the jacket cut the wind and made sure I stayed warm. The Micro-Airdry EX material works with the WindDry material and retains your body heat and also wicks your sweat away from your core. The gripper material on the hem of the jacket kept it from riding up my back which was a great feature. The Gemini jacket is a great piece of equipment to have when riding in cold and windy conditions. At $139 the Gemini jacket is a bit pricey but worth the money.

My background:
I am 5?11?, 220 lbs. My riding has been almost exclusively cross country with some commuting and consistently ranges from moderate to very challenging and technical rides.

Testing Grounds:
I wore this jacket on many single track rides during the late fall, winter and early spring. It was snowing during some of the rides that I wore this jacket.

Performance and Observations:
The first time I put on the Louis Garneau Gemini jacket I wasn’t expecting it to fit as good as it did. I was expecting it to be tight and restricting but that was definitely not the case. The jacket is snug but still stretchy and unrestrictive. The Gemini jacket comes equipped with Louis Garneau’s WindDry technology. The WindDry technology covers the front, shoulders, sleeves and collar of the jacket. It is a 3 ply 100% polyester, stretchy material. I felt the effects of this during most of my rides with the jacket. My face would freeze and end up wind burnt but I felt no wind on my core.

The Gemini jacket is also equipped with LG’s Micro-Airdry EX material. The Micro-Airdry EX material is designed to retain your body heat and to wick sweat away from your core. The Airdry material does its job, it kept me dry and warm throughout the whole ride. I didn’t have to get 30 minutes in to warm up, I put the jacket on at home before leaving and stayed warm until I got back. There were a couple occasions where I got too hot and had to unzip the jacket.
The jacket is a must for any cold or windy riding that you might do. The features of the jacket like the gripper strip around the hem, which keeps the jacket from riding up while riding, make the jacket that more comfortable.
