Homemade Camelbak dryer

MAKE blog:

This is an easy and quick project for people who have camelbaks but don’t have the special hanger. This hanger is made out of a plasic coat hanger with smoothed edges.

Dry it out? I always keep mine in the fridge so it doesn’t mold.

I used a wire hanger to create one. Just bent it to sort of match the one they sell. Works pretty well, and can hang the bladder and bag off it it. I take the rubber mouthpice off during rinses. The wire hook feeds through the it, so it doesn’t get lost. I can email a photo, if anyone is interested…

I toss mine in the freezer after every ride and take it out about an hour before another ride for it to thaw out. But I guess if you’re away from home that isn’t so reasonable

The easiest way I have found is to loosely crumple a couple paper towels into balls, shove one toward the bottom and one toward the top. Works like a champ!

Another great DYI is to use denture cleaner instead of the overpriced cleaning tablets. It does the exact same thing.
