Ride of Silence

The Ride of Silence began in 2003 in Dallas when 1,000 cyclists rode to honor the memory of cyclist Larry Schwartz who was hit by the mirror of a passing bus and was killed. Group rides are nothing new to cycling, but the amazing thing about the Ride of Silence is that it was organized through word of mouth and email communication over a period of only ten days. There was no registration, no fees, no t-shirt.
