Around 5:30 Thursday morning, an Athens cop was making the rounds near the center of the Ohio University campus.

He soon came upon a bicycle with a sticker that read “this bike is a pipe bomb” chained outside the school-owned Oasis restaurant.

Taking the sticker at its word, the cop blocked off the area and called in the bomb squad from the Columbus police 65 miles away.

The bicycle was first blasted with a high-pressure spray of water courtesy of the fire department.

Next it was dismantled using the “jaws of life.” Inside the wet shredded metal they found nothing.
