The Pink Sisters
February 8th, 2006 by Tim GrahlEver since Surly came out with their limited edition pink 1×1 frames I wanted a pink bike of some sort. However, at the time I didn’t have the cashola to spend on the 1×1. Fast forward to last November and someone listed their pink Surly 1×1 on ebay in my size. Again though, money was tight and dropping $400 just wasn’t feasible.
Around the end of December the money situation loosened a bit and I decided to grab ahold of another pink frame I’ve had my eye on… the Bianchi PUSS. I had managed to get a good deal on one so I went ahead and put my order in.
The following week I was at Bikes Unlimited helping them out on the Virginia Derailer Series website and I was talking to Kenny about ordering the Bianchi. Well go figure… he knew a guy selling a, you guessed it, Pink Surly 1×1… and in my size!
Kenny passed my number to Bob Dunn, the owner of the limited edition Surly, who then called me and said if I wanted it, then it was mine. Otherwise he was listing it on ebay that night. So I told him I definitely wanted it and a couple days later I drove over to his house, slid him the cash and walked away with my very own Pink Surly 1×1.
So now I have a pair of pink frames. Go me.
Who wants to donate the parts to build them up?

Nice! The only pink bicycle part I have is a Chris King headset. I think what you need for that Surly is a pair of their disc hubs in the limited edition purple. I just happen to know of a bike shop that has a pair built up and hanging in their front window. ( And no, it’s not the shop I work at, nor am I affiliated with them in any way)
I have a confession to make. I really like pink bikes. Back in my BMX days I took my 1 week old Diamond Back and had it painted pink and white. Totally cool even then. I also have a pink CK headset like Ted.
Ted and Jeff have matching pink sweaters by the way.
The Bianchi color is much, much nicer.
My first bike was a girl’s bike… The whole bike was lemon yellow, and the words “Yellow Rose” were painted on the chain guard. It was the one with the training wheels, and the one without the training wheels eventually. I remember that my only thought about it at the time was, “at least it isn’t pink”.
hey dear I think you are crazy for pink. You want everything pink. You love to live in the pink world. So pinky how many pink things u have got in your home. I am really eager to know about it.
If you are looking to unload one of the pink frames, let me know (depending on size). I have sniffing around for one for a little while, but don’t want to drop the retail price for a new PUSS. My wife will be questioning the color decision for sure…..then she would be questioning the color and the money if I go full retail price.
