Wal-mart and bike supplier “in cahoots” over QRs, says US attorney

The jury is now out in the Wal-Mart/Dynacraft vs parents-with-faceplanted-kids court case, which started in November and has been extensively covered by BikeBiz.com. “Why isn’t human error the logical conclusion of this case?” the Wal-Mart attorney asked the jury in his summing up statement. This may be a case brought against a big-box retailer which sells discounted bicycles with little, if any, after sales care but should the jury find in favour of the injured children there could be industry-wide ramifications, similar to the 1980-90s court cases involving quick-releases.

In the 1980s and 1990s, a spate of “defective” QR court cases resulted in the bike trade fitting ‘lawyers’ lips’ to front forks.
