Perhaps they will have to institute a secret random question to each cyclists to weed out the cops. It could go something like this: ” Okay, you are going to ride tonight?” “Yes”, the undercover cop says. “Okay, you must answer this question correctly and give me the secret greasy handshake, or we’ll know your NOT ONE OF US!” The cop says, “Ummm….question? Okay, shoot.” “Allrighty then. What type of valve stem does this tube have?” The cop stammers, “Umm…..I know that! It’s a “car” valve!….Ummm…..right?” At that instant, several messenger bags are expertly wielded and the cop in question is outed!

Seriously, what’s the problem with the critical mass rides? Aren’t they mostly at night, not during rush hour, and isn’t it perfectly legal to ride your bike down the street? I just don’t get it.

I think the legal problem is the number of people that come together for a ride. Most bikers get arrested for “parading without a permit.” I don’t really understand that one.
