Hydrapak AS Trail

December 12th, 2005 by Mike

Update: I guess if I would have paid attention I would have noticed that the resevoir that came with the Hydrapak AS Trail was the new reversable kind. So we will be reviewing their new reversable resevoir. (woo hoo)

The good ol’ United States PO dropped off our new Hydrapak AS Trail last week. Of course I opened the package as fast as I could becuase I’m like a kid with new toys. The pack is very stylish with the red and black colors. The AS Trail can hold 70 oz. of fluid, store 90 cu. inches of gear and the empty pack only weighs 1lb 3oz. Here are some features from the Hydrapak website:

Hydrapak AS Trail
Air Scoop ventilation, traditional nylon construction, doublesided reservoir access with dual mesh gear pockets, full length zippered main packet, HydraTunesTM cord port and gizmo pocket, key clip, and external bungee cord.

My first impressions are that it felt very comfortable when I put it on. I like the waste strap becuase it is made of a stretchy material that makes it easy to clip. The pack is definitely an eye catcher with the red, black and silver. The easyflow angled valve looks to be really helpful for the over the back tube routing. The price isn’t bad at all coming in at $60. I’m excited about getting a ride in with this pack on. Check back to see how it holds up.

Something else to look at from Hydrapak is their reversable resevoir. You can purchase the 50oz, 70oz or 100oz versoin. The entire top of the resevoir opens for easy filling and emptying and it makes it easier to turn your resevoir inside out. I hate cleaning my resevoir because I don’t always feel like I got all the soap out, the reversable resevoir will make cleaning easy. Maybe BlueCollar will get thier hands on one of those to review soon.
