First Impressions: Louis Garneau Gemini Jacket, Seal Skinz Chill Blocker Gloves and Socks
December 3rd, 2005 by MikeMy dogs woke me up this morning around 7:45, since I was out of bed I decided to hit the trail for a little while. I decided that it was time to break out the Louis Garneau Gemini Jacket and my Seal Skinz Chill Blocker gloves and socks. Well I’m in love with the Gemini Jacket. It is very warm and comfortable and it doesn’t ride up at all thanks to the gripper strip at the hem of the jacket. I actually had to unzip it a couple times becuase I was getting too warm. This jacket will definitely be able to handle any weather that Central Virginia has to throw at it.
The Seal Skinz gloves and socks definitely did their job. My feet and hands stayed warm. The chill blocker gloves do lack the comfort of traditional mountain biking gloves, with very little padding it is easy for your hands to get sore or numb. There is also no velcro strap to snug them up to your wrist. The socks made my Lake shoes fit a little tight but some adjustments took care of that. Overall I like them both so far. I do stick them on the heater vents on my way to the trail to get some added warmth right off the bat. If you aren’t planning on an epic ride and can give up a little comfort for toasty hands than the chill blocker gloves will work. The chill blocker socks are great for all types of rides and will keep your feet nice and warm as if home in front of the fire. O.K. well maybe not that toasty.
