Good stuff from the Masi Guy
November 4th, 2005 by Tim GrahlI regularly read the Masi blog, not cause I’m into the bikes (me no roadie), but cause Tim Jackson’s a cool guy and, well, I’m a blog geek.
He did have two things lately worth posting here though…
He’s recently been accused of resembling a muppet character.

Today on my ride, on my way back to the office, I was flying up a shallow climb. Seated, big ring, hammering away and feeling pretty good actually. I was on a section of the climb that is essentially a false flat, so I was moving pretty quick. Just as the climb started to get steep again, I stood up to maintain my speed. At that precise moment, a car load of teenage/ twenty-something guys drives by and throws a full Super-Big-Gulp-Soda-Supertanker at me and the bike.
This crap makes me so pissed off. I wish nothing on these guys other then a single car accident involving a telephone pole.

That happened to me a couple years ago… I was JRA, and was slammed with a half-full can of Natural Ice… the whole ride home I smelled like bad beer. If it was good beer, I could understand, but bad beer? C’mon!

I still don’t see the Muppet resemblance, but my wife on the other hand…
It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be. If it had hit the front wheel, things would have gotten ugly. I am glad that I kept my cool and didn’t go Rambo, but it would have definitely felt good to pull the kids out of the car and whip’em with my frame pump.

The thing that burns me more than everything else, is that we are so open, and actually helpless to defend ourselves. They are all just cowards; tucked safely away, anonymous in their cars. I have a dream. I see a website - a website with helmet cam videos and pictures of these idiots doing their cowardly deeds. If nothing else, we could at least blow off some steam by portraying these idiots in their acts of stupidity and ignorance. MAYBE - would be offender would see it and think twice. Maybe, it’s just a dream.
I agree with you, John. These people are TOTAL COWARDS!! How much moxy does it take to point your 3 ton auto at me and pull off at the last second? As I said in my blog about a week ago, “Lord help them if they stop their car and get out!”
