Hoss MTB is a new clothing company out of Brea, CA. They’re putting together some great riding clothes while keeping the prices down. And they actually look pretty good to.

The Ponderosa Shorts are the first offering of Hoss MTB in the lower half department. The outer shell is an eight panel light weight polyester with seven pockets while the inner spandex liner is a six panel design and has a well designed chamois built in to up the comfort level.

I find myself using the zipper cargo pockets a good bit for the keys and cellphone and the rear Velcro pocket for the wallet. Allows me to ride around without a pack and without the fear of losing my goods.

The stylish design of the shorts work great when I want comfort commuting around town and I still wanna look decent. However they’re also built rugged enough for singletrack riding. I’ve been wearing the Ponderosas exclusively for a few months now. That means lots of rides and washings and they aren’t showing any signs of wearing out.

My one complaint with these shorts was with the waistband. During my rides, and whenever I bent over, I constantly felt like I had the plumber�s crack happening. There wasn’t much in the rear of the waistband to hold them in place.

This, however, has already been worked on by the guys at Hoss. I got my hands on the new design of the shorts with elastic added to the waistband and it definitely helped the problem.

The Ponderosas are available in the Fall/Winter colors of Olive, Blood, Camel and Black (shown in pictures). The Spring/Summer colors are Black, Taupe, Navy and Dirt. The retail price for these shorts is a surprisingly low at $45.

So between the great design and low price these get the Blue Collar stamp approval. If you need some shorts, buy these.
