Billionare buys a “wonderful” bicycle

October 31st, 2005 by Tim Grahl

BikeBiz.com:

A tiny fraction of Steve Jobs’ fortune has been spent on a new bike. What has the Apple CEO and founder plumped for? SoCal MTB? Carbon fibre road bike? iXi folding bike with integral iPod holder?

He’s not telling.

To a reporter who asked what kind of bike, he held up his hands, stopping the questions: “That’s as far into my private life as I want to go.”

He had been asked what was the last piece of technology that he had bought - not made by Apple - that really delighted him?

“I actually bought a bicycle recently. It’s just…wonderful,” he said.

Yes, just wonderful! I really admire the Campagnolo operating system. It is sooo much more intuitive than the competitors operating system, has a more artistic appearance, and is definitely favored by the people that have tried it. That “other” operating system is just so monolithic, cold, and impersonal. They just ram-rod stuff into the marketplace, totally making all previous systems that they produced obsolete. What’s up with that anyway? I’ve never seen anything like it!
