Hunters discover mountain bikes

October 21st, 2005 by Tim Grahl

OregonLive.com:

Bart Barlow of La Grande credits his mountain bike with making it easier for him to take a pronghorn antelope this year.

“The other hunters had to get up at 2 a.m. to hike in (to the hunting site by sunrise). I got up at 5:30 and rode there in 45 minutes,” Barlow said.

Hunting on two wheels makes sense for a growing number of hunters.

Mountain bikes make less noise in a dry forest than someone walking, cover more ground faster, make it easier to pack out an animal, allow access down closed roads and are “flat-out fun and good exercise,” Barlow said.
