I know we have posted article about gas prices before but there are some quotes in this USA Today article from Tim Blumenthal with Bikes Belong pointing people to bikes for relief from high gas prices.

NEW YORK (Reuters) — A spike in gasoline prices is fueling what could be the biggest year for U.S. bicycle sales since the Arab oil embargoes more than 30 years ago, a leading bike association said Wednesday.

“For bicycles, high gasoline prices are a good thing,” said Tim Blumenthal, executive director of Bikes Belong, a national coalition of bicycle suppliers and retailers.

U.S. gasoline prices struck an all-time record above $3 a gallon after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, shutting down several oil refineries. Prices have eased slightly since then, according to government surveys.

    I always find US moaning about fuel prices hilarious, in the UK we pay 7.3 USD per gallon. Think yourselves lucky.

    I don’t like the fact that we pay $3 a gallon now but I do think it is funny that we don’t mind paying $4 for a 12 oz coffee but $3 a gallon for gas is outrageous. We definitely are lucky.
