Ski Biking

I love biking…. and skiing. Check out this site! These guys do both at the same time…. sortof.

I’d never heard of this until I stumbled upon www.ski-bike.org…. and now I really want to try it. They actually have a lot of info about how to get into the sport; there’s even a “history of the ski-bike” section on the page. Awesome. Has anyone ever tried this?

    I want my 2 dollars!

It looks cool in the pictures, but it’s pretty lame in real life. Maybe the rentals in the ski resorts around here are the ski-bike equivalents of Wal-Mart bikes, though, so who knows, but IMO real downhill skiing is way more fun.

Dirtrag has a “how to” on making your own with old bike parts - i plan to create one this winter.

Build your own: I know a couple of people who’ve replaced the front tire with a piece of broken ski and put a studded tire on the back. Now *that* is fun with snow and bikes.

I found something similar the other day that uses a kit to convert your own bike.

Their bikes don’t look that fun but they also have a conversion example in their gallery with the back tire still on. Like Fritz mentioned.

Whoa. Those guys do some crazy stuff on the “winter x” bikes. Tim and I saw some similar examples at the show, some even had what appear to have been mini snowboards attached.
