Ibex Ignition 3 First Impressions
August 31st, 2005 by MikeI’ve had the Ibex Ignition-3 out on 2 good rides so far. The first ride was at the Virginia Derailer series race in Danville, VA. The course was long but very fun. There were three or so creek crossings some great downhill runs and some heart pumping climbs. The Ibex performed great. After adjusting the seat back a few inches Tim and I hit the trail. I noticed a few time that I would shift while pedaling uphill and the Deore LX rear derailleur kept up with me. There was no chain suck and very smooth shifting the whole ride. I did notice that the rear disc brake was rubbing in the housing toward the end of the ride. I have yet to determine what the cause of that is.

The stance of the bike is different than I’m used to but still comfortable. I’m not leaned over as much as when I ride the Woodstock 505 or the Raleigh M80. The Kenda Krushers that come equipped on the Ignition-3 are great. I have tested the traction a few times by leaning hard into a corner and haven’t had them slip out yet. My overall first impression of the bike is very good. Other than the rear disc problems that I am having the bike is very solid.
We are getting some rain from the hurricane in the Gulf so it will probably be a while before the trails are dry enough for a good ride. I can’t wait to get the Ignition-3 back out.
