The National Bike Registry

August 27th, 2005 by Carl

Here’s a great way to protect your investment. The National Bike Registry keeps a comprehensive database of cycles, so if yours is ever stolen, you’ll be able to claim ownership should it be recovered.

NBR

The NBR site says:

“Many stolen bikes are recovered by police but there is no way to identify the owner. With the NBR service, you can register your bicycle by serial number in our national database and apply the special label you receive to your bike. If your bike is ever stolen, it can be identified and you can prove ownership. Law Enforcement anywhere can access our database, advise us that your bike has been recovered, and you can be notified immediately.”

Sounds like a great system to me! Prices aren’t too bad either, especially if you have an expensive ride. You can get 30 YEARS of registration for $25… not too shabby considering that in the next 3 decades, the average rider will probably go through half a dozen bikes. The registration is transferrable from bike to bike, so after paying a one time fee you’re good to go. I’ve only got one bike and money is scarce, so the $10/10 year plan is something better suited to my budget.

The NBR site has tons of info about their service, and you can get a price listing & additional info there. Check it out!
