Virginia Derailer Series Race #1
August 15th, 2005 by MikeWell I made it out to the first VA. Derailer Series race yesterday. My wife came along to keep me company on the hour long ride from Lynchburg to Rocky Mount, VA. We got there about 10 minutes before the start and made our way to the start/finish line. It was a tremendous turnout about double last year’s turnout. It took a long time for all the riders to clear the start/finish. It was really cool to see everyone from experts to almost first timers out there having a good time.

The crazy start.

This was my wife’s first race experience and she really enjoyed it. After the start we hiked up the trail a little ways and camped out for some good shots of the racers. She had a good time giving the racers some encouragement as they came rolling by us. Scott Stanley took home first place in the expert class after a five year break from racing. It was a hot day but a great day for a race. For an actual racers point of view of the event check out ashwinearl’s post.

Your winner: Scott Stanley
