Motorist Arrested After Hit-And-Run

EAST WILTON, Maine — A Jay woman is free on bail following her arrest on charges linked to a hit-and-run accident in East Wilton that injured a 14-year-old bicyclist.

The victim, Sarah Deveau, of Wilton, is being treated at a Lewiston hospital, where her condition is described as serious.

Police said Deveau was struck head-on Wednesday evening by a car driven by Katy LaPlante, 21, who sped away from the scene without stopping.

I am under the conviction that if you get caught drinking and driving only once, your liscense should be taken away forever. We are too lienient on drunk drivers.

    The girl who got hit is my best friend, and i think that if u are caught driving drunk, or if you are caught with open alcohol in the car, you should get a serious fine, or something like that, to help prevent what happened to my friend, happening to others.
