Cycling with the Family
August 1st, 2005 by MikeI got up Saturday morning at about 7 AM so I could meet my 13 year old cousin, Kaelynn, and her dad (my uncle) Jimmy at the local paved trail. It was Kaelynn’s first time at BlackWater Creek trail and she isn’t very experienced on a bike so we thought we would take it easy and park one truck at one end of the trail and another at the other end so she wouldn’t have to pull any hills.
After a slight seat adjustment we got rollin at about 8:15 AM. My uncle coached Kaelynn on what gear to be in and how to worn people further up the path that we were coming through. For the most part I led, Kaelynn rode in the middle and Jimmy took up the rear. We ended up riding a little over 10 miles which is huge for someone who doesn’t ride very often. I believe she could have made it back to the beginning but we didn’t want to push it too much on the first day. A bike upgrade is in order, she is riding a 24” Pacific brand bike that is too small. And as a reward for us all we had a good breakfast at the IHOP. All in all it was a great ride with the fam.
