Lake MX165 First Impressions
July 27th, 2005 by MikeI picked up the Lake MX165 Mountain Bike shoes about a month ago and have been riding with them ever since. I was a little worried that switching shoes would cause some sort of problem like blistering, but that never happened. The first time I took them on a ride I could tell a huge difference from the Nike YVR’s that I had been riding with. The Lake shoes had a more snug fit where the YVR’s were a little loose. The combination of shoe strings and three velcrow straps give the shoes a nice snug fit that comes in to play in more areas than you think.
There is no give in the sole of the shoe. When I’m on those tough uphill climbs and I’m pulling just as hard as I am pushing they don’t flex at all. My feet also stay nice and cool during the ride, that is a combination of the Lake shoes and my Dirt Rag socks. So overall first impressions – I love ‘em. At $99 they are worth the price so far.
