Mountain bike world championships in Grand Rapids

If you think the best adventure sports shows are only on television, rewind that thought.

The world’s top eight male and eight female mountain bikers will stop in West Michigan this weekend to compete in the $100,000 Jeep King of the Mountain Professional Mountain Biking World Championships.

Saturday’s race at Pando Ski Area is the second leg of the World Championships, a three-part series that began June 19 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Following the Grand Rapids stop, the tour concludes on Aug. 14 at Jack Frost Mountain in the Pocono Mountains, Pa.
