- Mountain biking on a budget
- Riding a bike that was saved up for over a long period of time
- Realizing that we don’t need all of the expensive, flashy crap that almost every other freaking publication on the market tells us we need in order to enjoy riding a mountain bike
Thank you for logging on to BlueCollarMTB.com. We chose our name because we are focused on the fulltime professional, the riders who, like us, can only make it to the trails before work or on the weekends. Blue Collar wants to help riders who love the sport, but who don’t have the money to spend on high priced, average quality products. Our goal is to test products and give our website viewers valuable and honest feedback so our fellow riders know what products are worth their hard-earned money.
Also, we want to pass on our knowledge, as we gain it, about mountain biking skills and repair tips. As we learn and test new techniques, we will share our experiences with you. We will be traveling to many different trails and events throughout the year, so visit our site often for updates.
Blue Collar MTB loves the sport of mountain biking and we want others to experience the fun that we have on two wheels. Mountain biking is a great sport for getting in shape, while having fun. We hope you enjoy our site.

Like Tim, I also work for a direct mail company and do some web design. Mountain biking is a great escape for me. I enjoy the rush and challenges that it brings.
I am a more conservative rider than others, but that doesn’t mean I don’t ride hard. I really don’t concentrate on not falling, I just try to learn my bike and how it reacts to different trails. I would like to think that I am a more technical rider than anything. Tim thinks that if you don’t end up bleeding after a ride you haven’t been riding, not I. I think I fall somewhere in between Tim and Carl’s style of riding. |

Along with Blue Collar MTB, I work fulltime at a local Direct Mail/Fulfillment company. Besides being in the saddle, I love playing on computers, doing web programming and taking long walks on the beach.
My riding style consists pretty much of trying to stay on the bike. I’m not sure if it is an inner ear problem or just a lack of brain activity on my part, but I don’t believe I have ever been out on a ride that I haven’t fallen. One minute I will be climbing and maneuvering a very rocky and technical trail like a billy goat and the next I will be lying on a flat, paved piece of trail bleeding. So, needless to say, I will be the one crash testing most of the products. My email address is Tim@BlueCollarMTB.com. Since I currently fill the role of website admin, feel free to send me your suggestions and crude remarks. And, if you feel so led, I enjoy the occasional limerick. |

Hey Guys,
It is great to see a local crew running a site for the blue collars of biking. I hope to see the site grow and look forward to some forums and more great reviews, keep up the good work fellas!
I’m new to the sport having recently beaten an addiction to online gaming and so far I’m loving it, I had no idea that Lynchburg had so many awesome places to ride. I am however deeply concerned about the fact that I’ve destroyed 3 mongoose mtb’s from walmart in as many weeks without crashing (junk) and am still reeling from sticker shock on a better quality ride.. Any ideas’s on “building the animal on a blue collar budget” would be great.
Hi guys,
Just found your site and was really happy to find others just like me! (I am not alone!) Heh! Anyway, now that I read about Tim, I don’t feel so bad. I can motor up steep climbs and kick ass on the downhill, but I fall over putting my water bottle back in the cage. I like that inner ear problem, explains a lot. Mike, I ride with some guys that are pretty good and they feel that if you don’t come out of the woods bloody, you weren’t riding to your full potential. We have saying in our little rag tag group: Sometimes you fall. Keep up the good work! I’m gonna forward your site to my friends.
